I’m a creative!
I’m hard-wired to think visually – pictures tell me a story.
As far back as I can remember, I always loved to “doodle” or draw random pictures. As my career moved forward, I channeled that excitement in all the projects I’ve supported. Whether it was creating an over-the-shoulder graphic in my first job or leading a large team of visual creatives in a change management campaign, I’ve always loved what I do. How could I not? I get paid to be innovative, creatively solve hard problems and visually bring thoughts and ideas to life!
I am always thriving to learn more! I use that knowledge to also benefit some great non-profit causes that are close to my heart.
When not in my office or at my desk, I’m looking at the world through my camera lens, spending my free time enjoying new food/cuisine, traveling to new places and just enjoying life.
My Career
I have 20+ years of design, art direction and creative direction experience. I started out as a “graphics operator” at a local TV station in Phoenix, Arizona and now manage a team of more than 70 creatives supporting multiple government contracts.
My time today is split between providing graphic design and multimedia support and being a career manager for staff at all levels. I love to do the hands-on work, and as an effective leader I know when to step back and trust my team to get the job done.
Mentoring junior creatives is very important to me – those teaching moments allow me to flash back to the times in my career, where mentors gave to me. They help me further develop the skills I needed to grow as a designer and leader. I always look back with gratitude as I learn from those who came before me.
My work has been noticed – I have won multiple awards, including eight Telly awards, an Intelligence Community Media Excellence Award (ICy) and was nominated for an Emmy Award as a graphic designer.
